This is more of a Before and Middle of the painting project. After will only come once we get the bins upstairs, replace the desk, get some things on the wall and put up curtains.
BEFORE, THE OFFICE
Putrid, burnt orange! I know this doesn't really show the whole room, but trust me, you don't need to see the whole room. Just know that it's a rectangle, there's a big desk with two monitors that Chris types at a lot, and a lot of random bins with Important Boy Computery Type Things in them.
And also? IT IS UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS BURNT ORANGE. It hurts my eyes and my soul. Blech. The previous owners are lucky we even bought the house with a room this color.
MIDDLE, THE OFFICE
From the entry looking into the office - not orange any more. YAY! This is the Bracing Blue color. It's the darkest blue in the house and I'm so pleased with how it turned out. A lot of people told us to choose a color and then go one shade lighter, but I'm the opposite. I think people tend to be scared of darker, more saturated colors and I couldn't be happier with this shade.
Never mind the bins and boxes - just check out the walls. It's SUCH an improvement - I love the way it turned out. I can't wait to get stuff on the walls.
We decided to paint the ceiling the same blue as well. It's a high ceiling and we were a bit skeptical of how it'd turn out (too dark? too much blue? feels like a cave?) but I am surprised at how CLASSY it looks. You walk in and hardly notice that it's blue up top, but at the same time it makes the room feel...more together somehow. We're painting a lot of ceilings the same color as the walls and I'm eager to see how it carries through.
So, that's round one of the pics! They're doing about a room a day and the upstairs should be finished by Friday. So far, so good!
