Claire is enjoying a 101.5 fever this morning and Charlotte is working on her second tooth. Funsies.
Teething for Charlotte seems to be worse than it was with Claire, or perhaps it is the simple difference in being a SAHM now and getting to fully experience all twenty-four hours of teething for day after day after excruciatingly long and screamy day, instead of enjoying an eight hour break five days a week. Or maybe I don't remember it being quite as screechy because it was three years ago and time has a way of dulling noise.
Anyway. Fever. Tiny teeth. I'm already plotting my evening cocktail.

Day 13
This one said "Buy Poinsettias!" We usually go to Costco on Monday and I'd seen the gigantic, gorgeous poinsettias there and I knew Claire would like choosing one or three and arranging them in the house. I also knew that she'd enjoy the added bonus of watering them with a watering can. But, we didn't make it to Costco because we went to Walmart first where I proceeded to buy the entire store. I had my holiday eating shopping list and anything non-perishable went into the cart. It took us a while and we ran into a neighbor and by the time we got home everyone was a hot mess.
1. Charlotte was overtired and had fallen asleep in her carseat on the ride home. I put her in my bedroom to finish her nap while I unpacked groceries. "This is great!" I thought.
2. Claire threw a royal fit about four minutes later and woke her sister up. "Dammit!" I thought.
3. Claire was sent to her room where she took a nap.
4. Charlotte screamed at me for 45 minutes (overtired!) before finally calming down enough to eat some food and then she stayed awake for another two hours. And then I died.
After all of that? There was no way in hell we were going to Costco. Claire ended up going to bed at 5p, completely of her own volition. (FORESHADOWING!)
Day 14
This one is blank. I left it empty so I would have room to shuffle activities or swap or add in a new one if I thought of it. But then Claire woke up hot and fevery this morning and the baby just woke up from a ten-minute "nap" (HA HA HA) so maybe we'll take a break from Advent Activities and lay low, drink applejuice, and watch movies.

Paul is teething, too, and its way worse than with Margaret. He's absolutely miserable and is quite generous with sharing the misery. We were up most of the night last night. I have to say, the eight hour break to go to work today IS nice. (If I can stay awake at work.)

I have watch a Christmas movie on my Advent calendar list, so I say that it totally counts. I hope Claire feels better soon.

Teething was definitely a blip on the radar with Little L... it was difficult but I'll tell you what. This time around is PURE FREAKING TORTURE. I know this baby is just more sensitive to all things and seems to be far more affected by any and every little milestone we encounter. It is hard. Teething blows. And everything with 2 kids is just ridiculously more hard than it was with just the 1. The end.
Hope your week gets better.

Delurking to say that I've read your blog for a long time and I just had to finally comment because this post (esp the part where you died) made me laugh out loud. Thanks for the laugh (sorry it was at your expense).

Costco pointsettas are the best! Only $17 at our store and probably about $65 if you purchased them at a florist. Although I LOVE going to Costco and come out on my "Costco high", I am just so darn exhausted afterwards. I think you made the correct choice!
