I'm working on putting a post together with our baby pictures and Claire's so we can do a sort of "Who does she look the most like" activity. I asked my mom to scan some photos for my little project.
Honestly, it's amazing I survived 1979 and into the 80's what with my mother bathing me next to a SPACE HEATER on the counter with all kinds of hot wires and heating elements exposed. (On very tippy looking legs no less.)
And Dad? This hat? I don't even have any words. I'm just glad we got out of the 70's alive.
These photos are priceless! And I must admit that I have similar photos of my children. I'd love to see more!

How fortunate that you only had to live through 11 months of the 70's. It was the first of Feb. and I thought you would be cold getting a bath, so we heated the area up with the space heater. There was an energy crisis and even though we lived in base housing and the utility bills were paid, we kept the thermostat turned down..as if it could have been that cold in southern California. We also kept that heater in your room at night. It did have a thermostat and a safety feature of shutting off it tipped over. You didn't mention the macrame plant holder that was missing the plant...surely I had taken it out to water it.

All I have to say is... I didn't have a car seat for the first six months of my life. The only reason I finally got one was my mom was fed up of me wrinkling her dress when I sat in her lap. Yes, how did we survive?

Those pictures are AWESOME! I used to ride in my dad's lap in the car also, and I survived.

Your Mother (in 1956) sat in a seat that hung from two wide hooks that went over the back of the bench seat between driver and passenger. Every Mother had an automatic reflex arm that extended in front of the child to protect her at the time of fast braking. (Great with drum brakes that took a long time to stop the vehicle.) We drove from Kentucky to Texas when she was 6 months old; we put her crib matress in the back seat and she played/slept on it the whole trip. Grandmother

You came home from the hospital in a car seat, and were buckled up every time you got in that red, 1970, BMW. You loved your car seat.

I was born at the tail end of 1979 and I believe I have a picture of my mother holding me in the EXACT same plaid shirt your mother has on. Too funny.

If I am not mistaken, I gave your dad that hat...

This is so awesome. I have been looking through a lot of old pictures recently too playing the same game, and have had some of the same thoughts when I saw a picture of me walking on my crib railing like it was a tightrope... apparently my mom thought capturing the shot was more important than snatching me down before I fell!! She said that she would just walk in my room when I was supposed to be sleeping and I would be doing stuff like that.
